Beyond Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring by David S. Pointer

Well, Spring has already "sprung" but here is a poem for the season from David S. Pointer

Beyond Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring

David S. Pointer

Each Spring the paper shredders

were more, and the chainsaws less,

and still with all that vegetation

extinction turned into condom boxes

or computer paper, reams, nobody had

seen any of those hairy ape monsters

oh, sure, they made rocumentaries

about those beasts, but it seemed

like the serial killers here and CIA

abroad orchestrating so much of the

ongoing historical killings, and yet

we never ran out of candytuft, Iron-

weed or roses for that co-ed wrapped

up, discarded in the agony of sheets
